What is H261?H.261 is a 1990 ITU-T video coding standard, ratified in November 1988. Originallydesigned for transmission over ISDN lines on which data rates are multiples of64 kbit/s. It is one member of the H.26x family of video coding standards in thedomain of the ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group (VCEG). The coding algorithm wasdesigned to be able to operate at video bit rates between 40 kbit/s and 2 Mbit/s.The standard supports two video frame sizes: CIF (352x288 luma with 176x144 chroma)and QCIF (176x144 with 88x72 chroma) using a 4:2:0 sampling scheme. It also hasa backward-compatible trick for sending still picture graphics with 704x576 lumaresolution and 352x288 chroma resolution (which was added in a later revisionin 1993).
The H.261 standard actually only specifies how to decode the video. Encoderdesigners were left free to design their own encoding algorithms, as long as theiroutput was constrained properly to allow it to be decoded by any decoder madeaccording to the standard. Encoders are also left free to perform any pre-processingthey want to their input video, and decoders are allowed to perform any post-processingthey want to their decoded video prior to display. One effective post-processingtechnique that became a key element of the best H.261-based systems is calleddeblocking filtering. This reduces the appearance of block-shaped artifacts causedby the block-based motion compensation and spatial transform parts of the design.Indeed, blocking artifacts are probably a familiar phenomenon to almost everyonewho has watched digital video. Deblocking filtering has since become an integralpart of the most recent standard, H.264 (although even when using H.264, additionalpost-processing is still allowed and can enhance visual quality if performed well).
What is MP4?MPEG-4 Part 14, formally ISO/IEC 14496-14:2003, is a multimedia container format standard specified as a part of MPEG-4. It is most commonly used to store digital audio and digital video streams, especially those defined by MPEG, but can also be used to store other data such as subtitles and still images. Like most modern container formats, MPEG-4 Part 14 allows streaming over the Internet. The official filename extension for MPEG-4 Part 14 files is .mp4, thus the container format is often referred to simply as MP4.
An mp4 file extension is typically used for MPEG-4 multimedia files defined by ISO 14496-1 standard. Commonly used for video and movie files and supported by vast number of media players.

At a presentation to our faculty over the summer, we had the opportunity to share some of the awesome ways our makerspace and its tools and equipment can be integrated into a wide range of academic disciplines. Some of what we talked about is on our assignments by subject page. We were a little worried that all of the new project ideas could be overwhelming, however, especially when many faculty are interested in working with existing courses. In an effort to make things a little easier to digest, we came up with the following:
A while back, we shared some of the awesome projects the Innovation and Entrepreneurship students created as their final projects. Another one of the projects combined innovation and technology with learning and sustainability. The students called it Roll the Rot, a playful way to learn about composting and STEM. The compost bin would be used along with a curriculum to teach kids about composting. The dodecahedron (12-sided die, or D12) shape, would make it fun for kids to roll around to aerate the compost. When in the early prototyping stage, the students were able to prototype a small-scale model using the 3D printer. A large to-scale prototype was created with the help of a local plastics company.
The last project listed has even been made into a Kickstarter project! Be sure to check out the Green Plantern by AIRO. The effort and thought put into this project is very impressive. They hope to make indoor gardening more accessible through their compact aeroponics system.Their campaign runs until December 24, 2017.
This is a transcript of an oral history interview with a lesbian who lives in a gay/lesbian retirement community in Florida, the first such community in the United States. She discusses how she learned of the community and describes the process of purchasing a home and moving in. Most of the interview focuses on life in the community: relationships with neighbors, social activities, et cetera. This interviewee hosts a monthly event called the Lesbian Spirituality Circle Potluck, which attracts women from within the community and from nearby cities.

Composite PSA design entails hazardous leaching and propertydrift.A commercial ostomy adhesive was formed into an X shape and appliedto skin. After 30 min, the adhesive was removed. Though invisibleto the naked eye, residual additives were left on the skin at riskof penetrating an open wound. For clear observation of the migratorycomponents, a fluorescent powder was spread over the skin surfacewhere it adhered to the residue and was revealed by a black light.
